Christoph Maier
With complementary strengths and shared ambitions, the partnership sets the foundation for future growth and innovation in German IT hardware.
January, 2022. ox8 Corporate Finance exclusively advised Thomas-Krenn.AG (“Thomas-Krenn”) on the strategic partnership with EXTRA Computer GmbH (“Extra Computer”). The companies complement each other ideally and as a group with nearly 400 employees generate revenues of more than EUR 120 million.
The companies anticipate great synergy potential in the partnership, especially in the transfer of specialist know-how as well as in the expansion of the product and solution portfolio. In addition, the aim is to further strengthen the partner and cloud business and to expand the customer base with the four brands Thomas-Krenn, exone, Pokini and Calmo, thereby gaining additional market shares.
The two partners will continue to operate independently, thereby maintaining the accustomed exceptional service and support for existing customers and continuing to manufacture the entire products of Thomas-Krenn.AG and EXTRA Computer GmbH at the two locations in Germany. To achieve the individual goals of the two partner companies all jobs will also be retained.

Christoph Maier, CEO of Thomas-Krenn.AG, is convinced: “The strategic partnership will make us the largest independent German server and storage manufacturer. There are no merger plans, therefore the companies will remain separate entities. We will continue to expand both workforces and locations and invest in the future portfolio in order to be able to grow in the market. As a result, we expect a number of advantages, explicitly also in the area of our corporate cultures. Both fit very well together and at the same time we will be able to learn from each other. I am very much looking forward to meeting the new colleagues. Together we can further strengthen the IT-sector in Germany, offer a comprehensive range of IT-hardware “Made in Germany” and increase our independence from international providers.”
“In this context, we would like to thank ox8 Corporate Finance very much for their active support. The expertise and many years of experience in this sector have decisively influenced the project and ultimately led to an excellent result for all parties involved. The excellent collaboration in all aspects is definitely be recommended,” says Christoph Maier.
